What is the Ledger, and why does every entry get hashed?

The Ledger is Morechard's permanent record of what your child has earned and when. Every time you approve a chore, a new entry is added and cryptographically linked to the one before it - so if anyone tried to quietly edit or delete an old entry, the chain would visibly break.

Nothing is ever silently deleted. If a mistake needs correcting, a new linked entry reverses it - the original stays visible, just like a bank statement correction.

This matters most for co-parenting or separated families: it gives both parents one shared, tamper-evident record of exactly what was earned, ending arguments about "how much do I actually owe for that?" - see Exporting a court-ready PDF for how to share this record formally.
